Feedback from Cary H on Rhino & Elephant Conservation Programme | January 2017 |

I loved every moment we have to spend time with the animals, especially breakfast with the elephants, horseback riding and feeding the elephants and rhinos. I also enjoyed our weekly party and climbing Castle Kopje.

After we greet the rhinos and elephants in the mornings and clean their enclosures, which is fun, we stay with the handlers for an hour and watch them forage. In this time Bright is active about teaching us animal facts and talking to us about their behavior.

The volunteer house is absolutely beautiful, with a priceless view. The staff were also incredibly warm and helpful. When I lost my phone, Newton walked all the way to the creek to look for it. I only found out he had when Chipo told me! The dogs and Skittles the cat are an integral part of why the house feels like a home.

I would like to highlight was a fantastic manager Mike is. He was exceedingly friendly, hard-working, professional, and intuitive. Before I even left the airport to head to Imire, he was messaging me to make sure I was feeling good and had my bags. Mike had a great sense of the group dynamic and individual needs. In my first week I was unsure of my place at Imire. Without my saying anything, he recognized this, pulled me aside, and talked with me about how I was feeling and made me feel so much better! His concern for each of us was genuine. He was energetic and did not hesitate to take us to Castle Kopje or arrange a party. Mike was also extremely professional and it was obvious he loved his job. Stocks and Tafadzwa are champions! Loved the food! They really tried to make a lot of vegetarian options which I really appreciated.
