Wildlife Research, Courses & Internships

Volunteer in Africa on one of our amazing programmes!

Get hands-on wildlife research experience as you study African mammals, birds, ecology and wildlife management. Undertake an accredited Field Guide Course and become qualified for a career in conservation, safari guiding or hospitality.

Africa is the perfect destination for wildlife research and monitoring. Help with ongoing conservation efforts as you get up close to some of the world’s most interesting and iconic wildlife.

Volunteers on our wildlife research programmes will get involved in a variety of conservation projects - go on game drives and nature walks, monitor wild animals in their natural habitat, document animal behaviour, help in assessments to see if animals are ready for release and undertake vital game counts and territory mapping. Data from our research programmes is used for long term policy making and is essential for game park management and planning.

Our wildlife research and conservation projects include cheetah release in Namibia, wildlifemanagement and biodiversity in Zimbabwe and leopard monitoring in one of Africa’s finest National Parks.

Many of our wildlife research programmes will allow volunteers to conduct their own research while on the project. We can also help PhD students find bases for their academic research studies. If you are studying animal behaviour, veterinary science, environmental studies or zoology and need to carry out short research projects for your degree, please let us know!

If you are interested in a career in conservation or guiding, take one of our accredited FGASA Level 1 Field Guide courses and take the first step to a new adventure! These courses are popular with gap year travellers and those who want to take an extended bush holiday to further their own knowledge.
