Innovation Award Finalist!

20 April 2016

We are delighted to announce that our very own Anti-Poaching and Wildlife Management Programme has been selected as a finalist in the 2016 GoAbroad Innovation Awards!

As the leading resource for meaningful travel and study overseas, GoAbroad presents annual awards for innovation in international education. The winners are selected by a prestigious and selective group of international educators known as the GoAbroad Innovations Academy, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that the project's acheivements will help them to win first prize!

The project has been nominated for the Innovative New Volunteer Programme Award, which honours an inventive program in volunteering that provides a unique opportunity for student learning and cultural engagement, as well as program development, execution and overall creativity. The winners will be announced on 2nd June 2016, so watch this space!

The Anti-Poaching Programme is the only programme which allows volunteers to get real-life experience of life in the bush, helping to protect wildlife from the daily threats of poaching through the removal of snares both on land and water; identifying Poaching Hot Zones to help National Parks Rangers with effective deployment of resources; vehicle and foot patrols and community engagement. There is a strong emphasis on volunteer training as all volunteers leave with a solid grounding in animal tracking and identification and bush survival skills, as well as experiencing life in the African wilderness.
